OP-X PRO-II is available for both the Windows and Mac platform in 32bit and 64bit format. The plugin formats cover VST2 and VST3 in Windows and AU and VST3 in Mac. More info on the demo version page. Emulation of famous OB-X, OB-Xa and OB-8 synths. Available in 32-bit and 64-bit versions, for Windows and Mac. Drag & drop into folders for Logic -- haven't launched Garage Band to see, yet. And they were all free. Sounds pretty good (i'm not an oberheim enthusiast in particular so I can't vouch for.

Obxd is a new free Windows VST plugin synth that's based on - but not a direct copy of - Oberheim's OB-X. It takes the hardware's 'sound and behaviour' and then adds new features that are designed to overcome its perceived limitations.

These include a blendable multimode filter, but one thing that hasn't changed is that there are still not effects, so you'll need to bring your own if you want to beef up Obxd's sound. The synth is available in 32-bit and 64-bit versions and can be downloaded now from the website. Update: A Mac version and a folder of AU presets have now been added to the too.

This an exciting site. I I surly feel that almost all indie makers should know about Punch TV Studios and their allegiance to indie movie makers. Filmmakers you can recieve up to one hundred thousand dollars to create your next production with Punch TV Studios. Simply become a shareholder and you are a part owner. They are completely focused on programming for the new urban markets. Punch TV Studios is looking to colaberate with indie film producers to produce all movies and television shows.

You should find how to meet with this company. How to load presets for Mac users in Logic and GarageBand: It’s not very intuitive and took me half a day to figure out but here it is. You Command-Click anywhere on the OBXD UI panel, then a dropdown shows up containing two options for Skins and Banks. Choosing Banks will bring up the folder User/Library/Audio/Presets/Datsounds/OB-Xd/ and that’s where all those FXB files are supposed to go. Once you copy the banks into that folder you’ll see them come up when you Command-Click on the UI. Jeeze this was really hard to figure out!

I love OBXd and I find it easy to install and completely stable in Reaper. One question I have about the plugin may seem a bit mundane. Are the controls mapped to default CC values?

I know that there’s a learn button so that I can map any parameter to any CC and that I can save a track profile in Reaper that would contain all of those assignments but I want to do something infinitely simpler and cooler. I want to build my own OBXd dedicated controller and for that I really need to embed the OBXd CC values into the controller Arduino code, and for that I would really need default CC values. Another alternative is if I could write a parameter file that OBXd would read.

If anybody’s got any positive thoughts on this I would be very interested. A severely under-rated freebie. I’m not going to say it sounds exactly like the Oberheims it is emulating, but the spacey, metallic shimmer you get in the textures of various patches is there. It’s rare for a basic subtractive synth to be able to set itself apart and sound different from others while still being useful. My go-to for retrofuturistic spacey pads. It has a classic sci-fi sound. It doesn’t require much post-processing – just a touch of the clearest reverb you have and scoop out a bit of low-mids and you’re there.

The only drawback that it has is the unison-detune being limited to monophony, which is a shame because the unison sounds remarkable in pads.
